It’s not easy to make changes in your life, especially when you’re just a little bit older and used to doing, or not doing, things in a certain way. That’s why it’s good to have regular support conversations that keep you on track to where you want to be.
VALUES
I work from a values basis. Your values are the bedrock on which you live your life. Any changes you make have to reflect your core values or the change is not likely to last. Say, for example, that financial security is a core value for you. Are you going to be happy chucking a regular income to travel around the world for a year using up your savings? You will be if your value for exploration and challenge is more important than financial security. Is there a compromise to be found?
Values are not wussy, flaky concepts. They can be ruthless. To live by your values takes courage. That’s why I start with values and self-beliefs. Get them right and you can achieve anything you set your heart on.
In my coaching practice I only work with people who are committed to make a change. That’s why I offer an introductory session free of charge. I have to feel as confident that I can work with you as you have to be with me.
METHOD OF WORKING
Telephone or skype and ongoing e-mail contact in between sessions to support your progress.
Sessions can be weekly, fortnightly or monthly according to your needs.
TESTIMONIALS
‘Working with Penny Young as an executive coach is a fantastically inspiring and
challenging experience. It gave me a new focus and grip on my career, and life at a key
time. Brilliant and essential work for all of us I think, with Penny helping to draw out key
personal values and life approaches which can get left out with a less rounded coach.
Phenomenal! ‘
Joan R, Ex-Chief Executive
“I had coaching from Penny and whilst I didn’t change my job, move house, and marry the man of my dreams! I did take stock of my achievements and developed a more positive outlook than I had had for quite some time previously. It also meant that when the chance of a secondment came up in the acute NHS trust where I work, I felt able to embrace the chance to put all my accumulated experience to good use in a very different role. Since then I have been effective in my new job and the secondment has been extended twice. I have learnt so much, and do have to thank Penny for making me aware of the advantages of change, of the importance of maintaining values and of “getting out there!”
Christine B, Laboratory Manager
“I had a good IT degree but no confidence about getting the job I really wanted. After 6 coaching sessions with Penny, I was clear about where I wanted to work and, importantly, where I didn’t want to work. I revamped my CV and was much better prepared for interviews. I had been trying for jobs for months before coaching and receiving rejections. After coaching, I was offered the first position I went for. It gives me internal training, involvement with people and the start of a career I’m sure I’m going to enjoy.”
